The Minimalist NBA Project Part 5: Southwest Division

The fifth and penultimate part of The Minimalist NBA Project is here!

The Southwest has been one of the NBA’s more competitive Divisions over recent years with five talent-stacked teams who all managed to make the Playoffs last season. The San Antonio Spurs have been one of the best teams in the league for as long as we can remember, with the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets making for a rather fearsome Texas Triangle of late. The Memphis Grizzlies have continued to surpass expectations and are now a regular staple of the NBA Postseason, and the up-and-coming New Orleans Pelicans are building a team around superstar Anthony Davis.

But all of that is irrelevant here, because the big question is who owns the bragging rights when it comes to logos? Let us know which one is your favourite in the comments section!

Dallas Mavericks

I wonder what Mark Cuban would think of this?

Houston Rockets

Inspired by Saturn and its rings.

Memphis Grizzlies

2001 is when the team moved from Vancouver to Memphis.

New Orleans Pelicans

The date is a reference to when they switched from Hornets to Pelicans.

San Antonio Spurs

No nonsense. Just like their style of basketball.
